How to shop sales like a pro!

It’s sale season baby! Our inboxes have been blowing up recently and we’re sure yours have to. While we all know how much we *love* a good deal, today we’re going to reveal our top tips and cheeky tricks for tackling sales, and making sure you get the most bang for your buck.

Shop online

Shopping online is a great option because it allows us to take a step back and decide what we want without the pressures we often feel in store. Yes that sales assistant is lovely, but it’s also part of their job to make sure that you’re leaving the store with the maximum number of items possible.

Combine that with the fitting rooms that are set up to make you feel a certain way, bright sale signs and strategic store layouts, shopping online lets you take things at your own pace, from the comfort of your own home (and in your pjs to boot!)

Utilise cashback platforms

Chances are by this point you’ve heard how much we love the team at ShopBack! ShopBack gives you real Cashback on your online shopping and makes their money from the stores they partner with, meaning you pay nothing for their service AND you get to enjoy Cashback with very little effort, which we love! Plus they often have special shopping periods like this month's ShopFest, where loads of brands provide upsized cashback just for Shopback users. ShopFest is running for the whole of November and will include deals like 11% Cashback on hotels via booking.com, 20% Cashback on Adairs, 25% on Oz Hair and Beauty and *so* many more. Download the ShopBack app for access to all the deals as the land. Plus if you make a transaction through ShopBack from 1 - 30 November you will go in the draw to win one of 10 x $2000 cash prizes, to cover your Chrissy shopping. So good!

Search around for a promo code

Never. Ever. Checkout without looking for a discount code! With all the power of the internet at our hot little finger tips, it takes less than 10 seconds to type in ‘store you’re shopping at discount code’. It won’t work every time, but if you can find a code to score a cheeky 10% off (and you stack that with your cashback) it’s definitely worth the effort.

Use a gift card to make your purchase

Now we know long gone are the days where you’re hoping to get an itunes gift card in your Christmas stocking so you can buy yourself the latest Destiny's Child album to download onto your hot pink ipod nano (core memory anyone?) However did you know a lot of the time you can now actually save money by grabbing a gift card? Whether the platform is offering a discount to entice you to load one up (think spend $100 and get a bonus $10 added onto the total) or you can get a super sized cashback offering on a gift card which can later be used for your favourite brand, this might be one of those times where putting it on card is actually the better option.

Time your purchases

We know it’s only the start of November, but now is the time to start thinking about gifts you may want to grab for your friends and family. Your bestie who is super into home décor? Why not get her present from Adairs while they have their 30% off store wide sale? Want to take it a step further? Shop through ShopBack for an extra 20% Cashback (between 10am - 4pm on 2nd and 9th Nov 2022). Thinking about these purchases early means you can be strategic, getting yourself the best deal, and your loved ones a gift that you know they’ll love.

With all that being said don’t forget that the most important thing is to be intentional with your purchases, because a sale is GREAT but only if it’s helping you actually save, not over spend!

And don’t forget if Shopback’s ShopFest is sounding pretty appealing, you can sign up for an account using the code SOTM to get yourself a $10 bonus in your account to get your savings started.

A big thank you to our friends at Shopback for helping us bring this blog post to life!
