Is it worth it: Robot Vacuums?

If there’s one chore we can all agree is the worst, it’s vacuuming. And if you’re about to say you love it… we don’t believe you, ahaha. My absolute dream purchase was a robot vacuum, and after years of research, I finally took the plunge in the Boxing Day sales. Now? I won’t shut up about it. It’s genuinely changed my life. Every morning I wake up to clean, vacuumed, and mopped floors. Yes, I splurged on the fancy mopping one!

But I’m not the only one in the office with a robot vacuum, so I asked the girls for their thoughts to see if it’s truly worth it.

How long have you had your robot vacuum?

  • Brooke: 3 months

  • Jess: 4 years

  • Alesha: 3 years

Does it mop as well?

  • Brooke: "It sure does! I set it to mop every night after vacuuming. The clean floor smell is unreal."

  • Jess: "Nope."

  • Alesha: "I have a separate robot that mops."

What model do you have?

  • Brooke: Roborock Qrevo

  • Jess: iRobot3+

  • Alesha: iRobot i7+

Does it self-empty and refill its water?

  • Brooke: "Yes! It self-empties, self-cleans, and I only need to refill the base once a week and empty the bin every few months."

  • Jess: "It self-empties."

  • Alesha: "Yes to both!"

How often do you use it?

  • Brooke: "Every night, it vacuums the lounge, dining, and kitchen, then mops."

  • Jess: "2-3 times a week."

  • Alesha: "Every second day."

What’s your favourite part?

  • Brooke: "Knowing the floors are always clean without thinking about it. I can leave the house and come back to spotless floors."

  • Jess: "No more vacuuming! Plus, it connects to my Alexa, so I can manage it remotely."

  • Alesha: "The automation. I can schedule specific rooms on a set roster."

Least favorite part?

  • Brooke: "It only vacuums and mops. Still waiting for one that folds the washing and cleans the shower!"

  • Jess: "The wheels get clogged with hair — thanks to me and the cats."

  • Alesha: "It’s pretty loud."

Would you recommend it?

  • Brooke: "Yes, 1000 times over. Best purchase ever."

  • Jess: "Absolutely!"

  • Alesha: "Yes, especially if you have pets."

Our Top Tips for Buying

  • Wait for a sale. Boxing Day and EOFY sales are great.

  • Consider older models. You don’t need the newest one.

  • Skip the top-of-the-line. Mid-range models often do the job just fine.

Happy cleaning!
